TRICHY: In the name of the budgeting exercise, a great hoax has been played on the people of India, P Ayyakannu, president of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh said on Friday. Reacting to the budget proposals, Ayyakannu wondered how the finance minister's offer of credit facility to farmers to the tune of Rs 5.76 crore was linked to the budget.
The proposed allocation of Rs 20,200 crore to agriculture amounted to only 1.3% of the total allocation and it was an injustice to the farmers who constituted 70% of the country's population, he said. According to him, even the hike in the outlay of warehousing under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) to Rs 5,000 crore was not great news, as the facility was not used only by farmers. Ayyakkanu said the government was deliberately killing agriculture so that the powers that be would get substantial cuts while importing food grains from abroad.

Advanced equipment unveiled at Trichy government hospital TNN | Mar 18, 2013, 12.26AM IST
TRICHY: A host of new advanced medical equipment worth Rs 1 crore provided to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) here would be a boon for patients from Trichy and neighbouring districts as they can avoid visiting costly private hospitals. Tamil Nadu minister for khadi and village industries, T P Poonachi, inaugurated the equipment at the hospital on Sunday.
Ten new medical equipment have been unveiled in the departments of ophthalmology, neurology, gastroenterology and bio-chemistry. Dr A Kathikeyan, MGMGH dean, told TOI, "The new machines would help us to provide the best treatment to the patients. They were sanctioned by the state government recently. They will be operational soon. Henceforth, the patients need not be referred to other hospitals."
In the latest upgrade, the ophthalmology department received four devices . Dr Parthiban Purushothaman, ophthalmology chief, said, "With the new equipment, we can provide advanced treatment for diabetic retinopathy and perform stitch-less cataract surgeries. Normally, patients have to spend Rs 40,000 to Rs 55,000 for cataract surgeries in private hospitals. Moreover, the patient need not be hospitalised for several days, post surgery." In a minor makeover, an existing room in the hospital was converted into electroencephalography (EEG) and electro neuro myography (ENMG) centres. Dr M A Aleem, the chief of neurology department said, "The new machines worth Rs 10 lakh are used to diagnose muscular and neurological diseases and various types of epilepsy. Such cases were earlier referred to Thanjavur medical college hospital. " Video colonoscopy and video endoscopy machines have now come up at the department of surgical gastroenterology, while the bio-chemistry department gets a boost with an auto analyser and blood gas analyzer. The computer radiology imaging system enables the viewing of X-ray data in eight wards of the hospital.

தமிழக சுகாதாரத்துறை அமைச்சர் வீரமணி திருச்சி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் நேற்று திடீர் ஆய்வு மேற்கொண்டார். அவசர சிகிச்சை பிரிவு, முதல்வரின் விரிவான காப்பீட்டு திட்ட சிகிச்சை பிரிவு போன்றவற்றை பார்வையிட்டார். நோயாளிகளி டம் மருத்துவ வசதிகள், டாக்டர்கள் மற் றும் ஊழியர்களின் அணுகு முறை குறித்து கேட்டறிந் தார். முதல்வரின் விரிவான காப்பீட்டு திட்ட சிகிச்சை பிரிவில் நோயாளியின் உறவினர் ஒருவர் அமைச்சரிடம் கூறுகையில், நோயாளிகளின் உறவினர்களுக்கு தங்க இடமின்றி மழை, வெயிலில் அவதிப்படுகின்றனர் என்றார்.
அதற்கு அமைச்சர் பதிலளிக்கையில், அரசு மருத்துவமனைகளில் நோயாளிகளின் சிகிச்சைக்கு முக்கி யத்துவம் அளிக்கப்படுகி றது. உங்களின் கருத்தையும் ஏற்று விரைவில் உறவினர்களுக்கு ஓய்வறை கட்டித் தர நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும் என்றார்.

வலிப்புநோய் பற்றிய மூட நம்பிக்கைகளை ஒழிக்கவேண்டும் என்று விழிப்புணர்வு பேரணியை தொடங்கி வைத்து அமைச்சர் பூனாட்சி கூறினார்.

வலிப்பு நோய் பற்றி விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்துவதற்காக ஆண்டு தோறும் மார்ச் 26–ந்தேதி உலக வலிப்பு நோய் தினமாக கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது. இதையொட்டி திருச்சி அண்ணல் காந்தி அரசு மருத்துவமனை மூளை நரம்பியல் துறை சார்பில் 500–க்கும் மேற்பட்ட நர்சுகள் மற்றும் நர்சிங் மாணவிகள் சீருடையுடன் கலந்து கொண்ட பேரணி நடைபெற்றது. அரசு மருத்துவமனை வளாகத்தில் இருந்து புறப்பட்ட இந்த பேரணியை தமிழக காதி மற்றும் கிராம தொழில்கள் துறை அமைச்சர் டி.பி. பூனாட்சி தொடங்கி வைத்து பேசினார்.
அப்போது அவர் கூறியதாவது:–
மூட நம்பிக்கை
உலக அளவில் 65 மில்லியனுக்கும் அதிகமானவர்கள் வலிப்பு நோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு இருக்கிறார்கள். இந்தியாவை பொறுத்தவரை ஆயிரம் பேரில் ஆறு பேர் வலிப்பு நோயால் பாதிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். மேலும் வலிப்பு நோய் பற்றி மக்களிடம் மூட நம்பிக்கைகள் உள்ளன. அவற்றை ஒழிப்பதற்காக இதுபோன்ற விழிப்புணர்வு பேரணி நடத்தப்படுகின்றன.
இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.
இந்த பேரணியில் அரசு தலைமை கொறடா மனோகரன், ப.குமார் எம்.பி, மாநகராட்சி மேயர் ஜெயா, எம்.எல்.ஏ.க்கள் பரஞ்சோதி, சிவபதி, துணைமேயர் ஆசிக் மீரா, அரியமங்கலம் கோட்ட தலைவர் சீனிவாசன், கவுன்சிலர் பூபதி, கி.ஆ.பெ. விசுவநாதன் அரசு மருத்துவ கல்லூரி டீன் டாக்டர் கார்த்திகேயன், இருக்கை மருத்துவ அதிகாரி டாக்டர் சிவகுமார், மூளை நரம்பியல் துறை தலைவர் டாக்டர் எம்.ஏ அலீம், டாக்டர்கள் ராஜசேகர், ரவிக்குமார், கிருஷ்ணன் உள்பட பலர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

திருச்சி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் ரூ.80 லட்சம் மதிப்புள்ள நவீன மருத்துவ கருவிகளை அமைச்சர் பூனாட்சி பொதுமக்களின் பயன்பாட்டுக்கு தொடங்கி வைத்தார்.
மருத்துவ கருவிகள்
திருச்சி கி.ஆ.பெ. விசுவநாதம் அரசு மருத்துவ கல்லூரியுடன் இணைந்த அண்ணல் காந்தி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் தமிழக முதலமைச்சரின் ஆணையின் பேரில் மருத்துவமனை வளர்ச்சி திட்ட நிதியிலிருந்து நோயாளிகளின் பயன்பாட்டிற்கென பல்வேறு நவீன மருத்துவ உபகரணங்கள் வாங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

பாத்திமா உயர்நிலைப்பள்ளியில் நடந்த ஆண்டு விழாவில், போட்டிகளில் வெற்றி பெற்ற மாணவ, மாணவிகளுக்கு, மேயர் ஜெயா, நரம்பியல் துறை நிபுணர் டாக்டர் அலீம் ஆகியோர் பரிசு வழங்கி பாராட்டினார்.
திருச்சி புத்தூரில் பாத்திமா உயர்நிலைப்பள்ளி செயல்பட்டு வருகிறது. இப்பள்ளியின், 90வது ஆண்டு விழா சிறப்பான முறையில் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. விழாவில் திருச்சி கி.ஆ.பெ.விஸ்வநாதம் அரசு மருத்துவக்கல்லூரியின் நரம்பியல் துறை தலைவர் டாக்டர் அலீம், திருச்சி மேயர் ஜெயா, திருச்சி நகர உதவி தொடக்கக்கல்வி அலுவலர் ரெஜி பெஞ்சமின், 51வது வார்டு கவுன்சிலர் கல்பனா, பள்ளியின் புரவலர் குணசேகரன், பெற்றோர் ஆசிரியர் கழக தலைவர் மனோகர் உள்ளிட்ட பலர் பங்கேற்றனர்.
பள்ளியின் ஆண்டு விழாவில் போட்டிகளில் வெற்றி பெற்ற மாணவ, மாணவிகளுக்கு, டாக்டர் அலீம், மேயர் ஜெயா ஆகியோர் பரிசு வழங்கி பாராட்டினார். விழாவில் பேசிய மேயர் ஜெயா, தான் இந்த பள்ளியின் முன்னாள் மாணவி என்பதை நினைவு கூர்ந்தார். விழா நிறைவில் மாணவ, மாணவிகளின் கண்கவர் கலை நிகழ்ச்சி நடந்தது. ஏற்பாடுகளை பள்ளியின் தலைமை ஆசிரியை மற்றும் ஆசிரியர்கள் செய்திருந்தனர்.

TRICHY: It has
come to light
that a large
quantity of
illicit liquor
has reached
Trichy market.
What is more,
they are
illegally sold at
some TASMAC
bars after the
stipulated sale
hours, posing
risk to clients.
But tipplers in
Trichy city are
unaware that
they are prone
to a lot of
serious health
complications
by drinking
illicit liquors
being sold in
some TASMAC
bars in Trichy.
A recent raid
by Prohibition
Enforcement
Wing (PEW),
Trichy, had
exposed the
arrival of illicit
liquor in Trichy
bars. In a
surprise raid
conducted on
February 9 at a
bar in
Woraiyur
Nachiyarkovil
street, the
PEW police
had
confiscated 54
bottles of illicit
liquor bottles
which bore the
labels of
branded
prodcuts. Two
persons in the
bar were also
arrested.
On the same
day, the PEW
police
confiscated
2,850 Indian
Made Foreign
Liquor (IMFL)
bottles from a
house in
Karumandapa
m in Trichy.
PEW inspector
G Neelakantan
told ToI, "We
raided the bar
in Woraiyur
following a tip-
off from a
tippler who
complained of
illicit liquor
sales. Our
investigation
revealed that
the illicit
liquor and the
IMFL were
brought from
Pondicherry. It
was the first
time in the
past five
months, we
confiscated
illicit liquor in
TASMAC bars."
According to
the sources,
the spurious
liquor is made
in a factory in
Karur area for
a long time.
Such items are
sent to
TASMAC bars
in Trichy and
other areas
where they are
sold after the
scheduled sale
hours at 10
pm. However,
the tipplers
unaware of the
fact, consume
these
counterfeit
products. As
they are
available for
cheap prices,
the bars prefer
to sell them to
earn
enormous
income.
However,
Neelakantan
said "TASMAC
bar employees
buy original
brands in the
wine shops
and mix the
bottles with
the illicit
liquor so that
the customers
cannot
identify. We
are not sure
that illicit
liquors are
being sent
from Karur
area. However,
we are
regularly
conducting
raids."
Though
specious
liquor is sold
in TASMAC
bars run by
private parties,
it is sure that
it cannot be
done without
the consent of
TASMAC
employees.
Commenting
on the issue, T
Soundaiya,
TASMAC
managing
director, told
ToI, "It is
obvious that
the employees
in
government-
run TASMAC
shops would
be aware of
illegal sale of
illicit liquors in
the bar
attached to
their shops. It
is their duty to
inform the
PEW police
about it.
Otherwise,
they would be
considered as
working in
cahoots with
such
miscreants."
On the other
hand, the
health
complications
are very high
due to
consumption
of illicit liquor.
Dr M A Aleem
of Trichy, said
"First of all,
the optic nerve
will be
affected by
their
consumption.
Its high level
of alcoholic
content will
lead to ulcer in
a short period
and severely
affect liver,
kidney, brain
and
cerebellum.
Memory loss
and
unsteadiness
follow."
